Claudia Astarita

Claudia Astarita, Advisor on China at ISTR, is a distinguished expert in Chinese foreign policy, Asian security, and international relations, with over a decade of experience analyzing China's growing geopolitical influence. A Doctor of Philosophy from The University of Hong Kong, Claudia has served as an Adjunct Professor of Chinese Studies at Sciences Po, as well as a Researcher at the Italian Military Center for Strategic Studies (CeMiSS), where her work focused on China's strategic developments in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.

 

Her research spans critical areas such as China’s Belt and Road Initiative, military strategy, and China-India relations, contributing to high-level policy discussions and strategic frameworks. Claudia’s extensive academic background, including positions at leading institutions like The University of Melbourne and RMIT University, underscores her ability to bridge academic insights with real-world geopolitical strategies. Fluent in Italian, English, French, and with working knowledge of Chinese and German, Claudia brings a global perspective to her role at ISTR, advising on the complex dynamics of China's international engagement, its regional power plays, and the broader implications for global security.
